    Meet the team leader of our IAM team, Anders Ihs who tells us how we work to help companies create a successful IAM strategy

    IAM stands for “Identity and Access Management” and is actually the basis of what in Swedish is called Cyber ​​Security. Like other areas in IT, there are also a plethora of cryptic abbreviations such as MFA, SSO, SAML, OIDC, SCIM, and more. We work with these areas on a daily basis and help companies understand what they mean and what benefit they provide.

    IAM is an incredibly interesting area that is getting a lot of focus now in these times when threats are increasing, partly due to more people working from home.
    In order to make a successful digitalisation journey, it is of the utmost importance to have a good and well-thought-out IAM strategy, which is basically based on

    Make sure that the right people access the right system at the right time and for the right reason.

    In the team, we have a great mix of IAM experiences and competencies, everything from senior consultants with 20 years of experience in the field to the fact that we continuously bring in new graduates from Arctic Group’s successful career chair. In each assignment, we try to find a good “team mix” to give both ourselves and the customer the best possible chance to succeed.

    We work agile with many and fast deliveries that quickly give the customer value. This approach is more important than ever in the IAM area as things are constantly happening in the cybersecurity world.

    As we are constantly growing within the team, it is important for us to constantly spread competence and experience between each other. We also work all the time with external monitoring and see it as a very important part for us to stay “up-to-date” with new trends, risks and threats, solutions and more, this we of course spread to our customers.

    Over the years, we have chosen to work with a number of partners and as you can see on our Partner Page, they are often world-leading products and solutions, ranging from full-scale IAM implementations to cool Yubikeys for secure login.

    We also work with a number of IAM experts around the world who can support us in our deliveries and who we support them in the same way when needed.

    Cyber ​​security exists in all industries, which means that we receive inquiries and assignments from all over the world. We do assignments for everything from telecom companies in Dubai to banks in England, but our focus is in Sweden and we also have the most customers there.

    A lot is happening in the IAM area and a big focus among companies is now on:
    Increase security – with e.g. zero trust
    Automate – self service, delete manual steps and exclude passwords
    Compliance – GDPR, internal audits and ISO 27001

    Within my 20 years in the IAM field, I see a clear trend among companies around wanting to handle these parts. Companies understand how important cyber security is as a basis in a digitalisation journey. From having previously handled this through a home-built solution, companies are now looking at ready-made solutions in the cloud.

    At Arctic Group, we work in many assignments to help customers with just these parts. We see IAM as a strategic area and will continue to grow and hope that we will have more, concludes Anders Ihs.
