What does an Atlassian consultant actually do? According to Maja Vallin, who works at Arctic Group’s new office in Sundsvall, it can be described like this:
I usually say that I’m an Atlassian technician and that Atlassian is the IT world’s version of IKEA. I can help build a drawer or an entire kitchen according to your vision. But I’ll also let you know if it might not be the best idea to build a sofa into a kitchen cabinet, says Maja.
With a mix of technical expertise and creative problem-solving, she helps customers create smarter workflows using tools like Jira and Confluence. Since joining Arctic Group, the pace has been high – and the development rapid.
I went from job interview to employment in two weeks, and since then I’ve been involved in many assignments, demos, sales meetings, and worked a lot on internal improvements and similar things. My recurring theme is that many things are happening at once, so I haven’t had time to be bored.
New office, new energy
Working from the Sundsvall office has added an extra boost to the workday.
It’s fun to have the city right outside the door! And we now have the space to discuss, help each other, and welcome colleagues from other locations more flexibly than before. I have to load an extra dishwasher per day compared to working from home, but that’s a perfectly fine price to pay.
And the sense of community in the team is something she values highly.
No one is left alone in a situation where they’re not comfortable. We help each other – regardless of role. There are no ‘more important’ people here. Everyone is equally important.
From technology to business value
For Maja, it’s also important that Atlassian products don’t just work – they should create value.

I feel seen. My work, achievements, and suggestions for improvements are always well received, no matter how big or small they may be. But most importantly: my well-being always comes first. I’ve had illness in the family, been sick myself, gone through losses – and every time the response has been: ‘take care of yourself, family comes first.’ Here, you’re allowed to be a human being first,” Maja concludes.
